The American Association of Orthodontists recommends screening by the age of 7.  By the age of 7, children's permanent molars are erupted, and they are beginning to lose their baby teeth.  In our office, we begin this evaluation at their very first visit, for possible orthodontic problems, such as crowded or protruding teeth, cross bites, open bites, and jaw misalignment.

Many of these problems should be corrected before full braces during their adolescence, as they can lead to the need for tooth extraction, trauma to protruding teeth, excessive crowding and  blocked out permanent teeth, with early intervention  can reduce the treatment time with braces.   Our office provides minor interceptive orthodontic treatment for many of the above mentioned problems, and we work with several orthodontic offices in the area.
